Meta WhatsApp Setup
Connect Meta Cloud API to send automated notifications and subscription status alerts directly to your subscribers' WhatsApp numbers using the official WhatsApp Business Platform.
You need a developer account on Meta for Developers with a registered business app. Go to Meta Developer Portal.

Create Meta App & Configure WhatsApp
Set up a business application to get API access keys:
- Log in to Meta for Developers. Create an app (select "Other" -> "Business").
- Under app settings, click Set Up on the WhatsApp card.
- Meta will assign a temporary testing phone number and sample business credentials.

Acquire Access Token & Phone Number ID
Retrieve your credentials from the API Setup screen:
Permanent Access TokenGenerate a permanent System User Token in your Meta Business Manager console. Do not use the temporary token on the dashboard as it expires in 24 hours.
Phone Number IDCopy the numerical identifier for your sender phone number (e.g.
109876543210123). Note: this is different from the actual phone number itself.3
Configure Settings in VillageConnect
Open your Admin Panel → Settings → Manage Notifications → Gateway Settings:
- Click the WhatsApp tab.
- Toggle Enable WhatsApp to true.
- Set WhatsApp Provider to Meta Cloud API.
- Paste your Access Token.
- Paste your Phone Number ID.
- Enter the Meta API Version (defaults to
v18.0).
You are all set!
VillageConnect will now forward communications to your clients' WhatsApp channels using Meta Cloud API.
