NextSMS Setup
Connect your NextSMS gateway account to send automated SMS notifications, purchase receipts, and subscription expiry alerts to Tanzanian subscribers.
You need an active NextSMS account. Create a NextSMS account if you do not have one.

Obtain Authentication Credentials
NextSMS supports two authentication models. You can use either one depending on your security preferences:
Method A: API Token (Recommended)Log in to NextSMS dashboard, navigate to Customer Info (Top Menu Right) → Customization (Tab) → API Keys, and generate a Bearer Access Token.
Method B: Basic AuthenticationUse your NextSMS login portal Username (Email) and Password.

Register Sender ID
Go to SMS Settings in your NextSMS Dashboard and request/register a custom Sender ID (Brand Name). Wait for their team to approve the ID before using it in notifications.

Configure Gateway in VillageConnect
Open your Admin Panel → Settings → Manage Notifications → Gateway Settings:
- Set SMS Provider to NextSMS (Tanzania).
- Provide either your API Token in the Bearer Token card, OR fill in your Username and Password in the legacy Basic Auth card.
- Enter your approved Sender ID Name / Brand ID.
You are all set!
VillageConnect will now format recipients' phone numbers automatically to start with Tanzania's country code 255 and dispatch SMS alerts securely.
